This year marks the middle of the ‘20s, a decade of cultural transformations beginning with a global pandemic and continuing to prove itself a socially unique period of change. Within this ever-changing climate, the LGBTQ+ community has remained steadfast in its commitment to reshape traditional narratives through queer fashion in 2025.

This year’s fashion trends were influenced by a variety of competing forces. Popular culture patterns continue to correlate closely with queer fashion trends. Moreso, queer people of colour significantly contribute to the popular styles of 2025 that have gained traction in both queer and mainstream spaces. As always, mementoes of media such as film, television, and music are integral elements of queer fashion.

Here are seven queer fashion trends that made 2025 one for the books.

Dandysim
Don’t worry, the baggy outfit – oversized jeans and a boxy jacket – is here to stay for a while in the world of fashion. However, an alternative look of refinement is slowly making a comeback in popular culture, as first introduced this year by the Met Gala’s theme of ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’.

The theme is based on the fashion of the dandy, whose sense of style is defined by self-rooted expressionism with a touch of elegance. The Black dandy fashion style adds further complexities to this design, as it is inherently resistant to the sexual and racial status quo.

Fluid Femininity
Rigid gender norms are slowly yet surely becoming a thing of the past as queer people lead the charge against heteronormative fashion standards. Non-binary people and queer women sport traditionally feminine articles of clothing in non-traditional ways.

Whether it’s corsets, skirts, or stacked accessories, queer people are challenging the fashion gender norms of the past.

Cutesie Pieces
Whether it’s a Labubu or a Sonny Angel, clipping on an adorable charm to your purse or tote bag makes all the difference.

Queer people have always and will always love small trinkets – there’s no doubt that the use of these cute accessories will only multiply in LGBTQ+ fashion trends in 2026.

Wicked
Dressing up on-theme with your favourite movie can definitely change you for good. Building on the popping pink of the Barbie movie, Wicked added a vibrant splash of green to the mix that has further lifted up the queer fashion community.

Getting Graphic
The tiny 2000s baby tee has been making a comeback for the past couple of years. Spice it up by making it a graphic tee stating ‘nobody knows I’m a lesbian’, and the look is a perfect way to state your queerness boldly. 2025 is the year of making a statement while also looking hot in a tiny tee.

Sporty Elegance
Mixing the classic loafer with a sporty football sneaker, the Nike Shox MR4 Martine Rose shoe introduces an elevated look that queer people are currently loving in the world of fashion. Enjoying a football game or meeting with your boss, these shoes can do it all to refine your aesthetic.

Jorts
The jorts, or jean shorts, are making their way into the queer fashion landscape one button at a time. Once seen as a stereotypical marker of queerness in the 80s, jorts are now worn fluidly by many and used to express masculinity, femininity, and everything in between.

Waves of inclusivity and diversity dominate the fashion trends of 2025. Trans models are walking the runway more than ever, with young models like Alex Consani and Summer Dirx making waves in the fashion industry. Black queer celebrities are consistently at the forefront of prevailing trends – 2025 has been no different.
