In a new behind-the-scenes featurette, the cast of ‘Carol’ talk about their roles in the critically acclaimed lesbian drama.

Todd Hayne’s long awaited adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s The Price of Salt has already racked up rave reviews from critics – most notably for it’s impressive cast. The director and cast talk about the filming process and what it’s like working with such an incredible ensemble of Hollywood actors.

“I worked with Cate [Blanchett] in my Bob Dylan-inspired film I’m Not There and she famously transformed into the electric Dylan in a shape shifting performance that still astounds me,” said director Todd Haynes. “So, I was so excited to work with Cate again and to see how she could pull it off as a woman this time.”

Speaking about Rooney Mara, who plays Blanchett’s younger love interest, he said: “Rooney is just an impeccable talent. I feel she understands the medium of film and for somebody this age to know how to calibrate the scale of articulation for this intimate medium, I think it speaks to extraordinary intelligence and innate ability.”
