10 celebrities who celebrate their trans kids

These celebrities have been very outspoken in their support for their trans kids, celebrating their identity loudly and proudly.

As the current anti-trans climate fueled by Trump’s rhetoric persists, we want to shine a light on some examples of trans people being supported and celebrated. So without further ado, here’s a list of celebrities who proudly support their trans kids.

Cher and Chaz
Cher, the pop idol, has been very outspoken about supporting her son, Chaz, who is an actor. Cher told SheKnows, “It took me a minute. Because you’ve been with a child for 40 years, and then all of a sudden… but you know what? Chaz was so happy!” Chaz is 55 years old, while his mother is 78, proving that age doesn’t matter when family love each other.

 

 

Jennifer Lopez and Emme
Jennifer Lopez is another music star whose child, Emme, is non-binary, using they/them pronouns. To let the world know about her support for her kid, Jennifer Lopez got them on stage and sang: “They are very, very busy, booked, and pricey. They cost me when they come out. But they’re worth every single penny because they’re my favourite duet partner of all time.”

Charlize Theron and Jackson
Charlize is a celebrated South African actor who has won several awards in her successful career. According to The Daily Mail, Charlize supports both of her daughters, “They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be is not for me to decide.” Her daughter, Jackson, has been transitioning since she was young.

 

 

Cynthia Nixon and Samuel
Cynthia Nixon, famous for her role in Sex and the City, shared a congratulatory post on Instagram for her son Samuel, marking Trans Day of Action.

“I’m so proud of my son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph) who graduated college this month,” she wrote. “I salute him and everyone else marking today’s #TransDayofAction.”

Sigourney Weaver and Char
The star of the Alien franchise, Sigourney Weaver, spoke about Char in a 2023
interview with the Sunday Times. “They are nonbinary,” she said. “They teach at Columbia, digital storytelling, bots, misinformation, they are someone who is excited about AI and not frightened about it.”

 

 

Dwayne Wade, Gabrielle Union and Zaya
Both Dwayne and Gabrielle have truly been outspoken for their daughter Zaya. Union said to Buzzfeed, “We didn’t exactly understand why [supporting Zaya’s trans identity] was a thing because it’s like, we love all our kids out loud. But it is a thing and a lot of people do need an example. [People] do need that [kind of] representation.”

Marlon Wayans and Kai
The comedian Marlon Wayans has been speaking loudly and proudly about his trans son, sharing on The Breakfast Club, “The more you know yourself, the more you can govern yourself, the more you live your truth, the happier your existence.” He has recently been interviewed on a podcast, Club Shay Shay, speaking about his son’s transition and his experience too.

Both Annette and Warren have spoken in support of their son. Annette told AARP, “He’s managed to do something that’s very challenging with great style and great intelligence.” His father said to Vanity Fair, “He’s a revolutionary, a genius, and my hero, as are all my children.”

Jamie Lee Curtis and Ruby
This pair are also quite popular as Curtis, from the Halloween franchise, is very outspoken about her support for her daughter and has been for many years. Jamie posted on Instagram, “Today is the birthday of my trans daughter. I am proud and grateful to be the parent of a trans child and am sending support to all of the trans families across the U.S. who are being targeted in this moment by conservative legislatures.”

Marcia Gay Harden and Eulala
Finally, Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden is the mother of Eulala, the eldest of the Hardens. Eulala is non-binary, and some of her siblings are also LGBTQ+. Hardens has said to People that “…they are my kids and they teach me every day.”
