If you’ve ever taken a basic first-aid course before, you probably had instructors tell you to listen to ‘Beat it’ by Michael Jackson or ‘Macarena’ by Los Del Rio. But what about queer songs to help you save a life? In this list, we’ve compiled 13 CPR-friendly LGBTQ+ anthems to help you get reviving.

‘I Will Survive’ – Gloria Gaynor (117 BPM)

Starting it off strong with Gloria Gaynor, what better way to save a life than by chanting the lyrics of ‘I Will Survive’? This iconic 1970s track will keep you going during your vitalising activity.

‘Dancing Queen’ – ABBA (101 BPM)

A tune in the club and a tune for your heart, ABBA never misses with their life-giving songs.

‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’’ – Scissor Sisters (108 BPM)

Don’t feel like dancing while doing CPR? Scissor Sisters have got you covered with their high-tempo pop song.

‘NISSAN ALTIMA’ – Doechii (117 BPM)

This list’s newest song is Grammy award-winner Doechii‘s ‘NISSAN ALTIMA’, which is capable of liberating those in need – even your haters and fans.

‘Supermassive Black Hole’ – Muse (120 BPM)

What’s more queer than having a Twilight phase growing up? And what’s more CPR-friendly (or CPR-unfriendly) than vampires? Not a whole lot, in my books.

‘360’ – Charli xcx (120 BPM)

What’s more brat than saving a life?

‘Bloom’ – Troye Sivan (121 BPM)

This is another tune for the club-going gays. A pre-‘Rush’ dose of Troye Sivan.

‘Ivy’ – Frank Ocean (116 BPM)

For the gays who don’t go clubbing to Troye, Charli and ABBA. You can still save lives while romanticising a previous relationship.

‘Just Dance’ – Lady Gaga (119 BPM)

Another CPR-friendly dance song? They’re never-ending. But as said in Lady Gaga’s ‘Just Dance’, you’re “Gonna be okay”.

‘Good Luck, Babe!’ – Chappell Roan (117 BPM)

Leaving Chappell Roan out of any sort of music list? That would simply be criminal. It just so happens that one of the biggest queer artists of our generation has a CPR-friendly tune – just to keep us alive to see more of her.

‘wish you were gay’ – Billie Eilish (118 BPM)

Once a straight anthem and now a gay one, Billie’s tempo and lyrics are perfect for keeping us revived, as she says, “I just wanna make you feel okay”.

‘Another One Bites the Dust’ – Queen (114 BPM)

Maybe not the most suitable for the lyrics, but Queen’s early 1980s tune will make sure to keep your heart rockin’.

‘Wannabe’ – Spice Girls (110 BPM)

What’s more vitalising than talking about your best friends? Spice Girls and ‘Wannabe’ will give you motivation with their upbeat pop songs.

We hope that this list of CPR-friendly LGBTQ+ anthems will encourage you to keep saving lives, while still listening to your favourite queer tunes.
