Daintree Paper To Close

Daintree Paper on Camden Street has announced on it’s company website that it is closing down early 2014.

In September 2013, the popular Dublin stationary store became the centre of a national media scandal when owner Paul Barnes removed a same-sex wedding cake topper from a display stand in Daintree’s Wedding Hub.

He maintained that his actions were due to his Roman Catholic beliefs, which he still stands by.

Barnes has now announced that Daintree is set to shut down on January 31 2014, although has not specified whether the negative media attention prompted the closure.

Barnes wrote on Daintree.ie, “After 18 years of supplying Ireland with the most beautiful papers, wedding stationery and other paper delights, Daintree will be closing on 31 January 2014. I would like to thank all our customers for supporting us over the years.”

He added, “For anyone who might be interested in taking over the business, it is for sale.”
