As spring sets in, we’re feeling rejuvenated and energised, and with Borderline Festival set to return to Dublin this month, we’re also ready to be inspired.
The cutting-edge music festival will take place across three nights, from February 19 to 21, in two iconic Dublin venues: the Project Arts Centre and Workman’s Club.
What sets Borderline apart from your run-of-the-mill music festival is its commitment to nourishing and platforming new, exciting artists. It’s a boundary-pushing celebration of creativity, and it’s the ideal space to fall in love with your new favourite queer artist.
Here is a small sample of the queer artists we can’t wait to see at Borderline Festival.
Art School Girlfriend

With her distinct blend of electronic pop, alt-rock and storytelling, Welsh-born, London-based songwriter Polly Mackey, AKA Art School Girlfriend, needs to be on your radar. Her 2023 album Soft Landing was a tender exploration of queerness and self-discovery, and it whetted our appetite for even more boundary-pushing tunes.
Boko Yout

If your playlists are in dire need of some new energy, look no further than Boko Yout. This genre-defying Swedish band have truly carved out their own sonic signature, that is all at once punk-funk pulse, raw alt-rock aggression, and off-kilter experimentalism. Believe us, this is a band that demands to be heard live.
Lionstorm

Hailing from the Netherlands, Lionstorm have the honour of being the country’s first ever explicitly queer music duo. From their aggressive clownesque style to their fearless exploration of female sexuality to their love affair with all things horror, this duo has to be seen to be believed.
The aforementioned groups represent a small fraction of the incredible artists set to wow us at Borderline. The full lineup is available on Borderline’s website, and new acts are expected to be announced soon.
You can secure your ticket to Borderline through this link. Two-day tickets have sold out, but there’s still time to nab one-day tickets.
