Anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera combats a queer activist’s controversial blog.

“Homosexual activists know that they have to change the minds of young people, like all radical movements,” LaBarbera said in a March 23 appearance Right Wing Watch first reported on. “We saw this under the Communists, under Hitler. They need to penetrate the minds of the youth.”

The clearly tongue-in-cheek blog post he is whining about was written by queer activist S Bear Bergman for the Huffington Post, saying “how dare I indoctrinate impressionable young minds into the idea that queers and transfolk were just as fine and lovely a kind of human as any other kind.”

Peter LaBarbera is the founder and president of  Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH), which is “dedicated to exposing the homosexual activist agenda”. It was a tax-exempt organisation until stripped for failing to file the appropriate paperwork. It is classified as an anti-gay hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Centre (SPLC).

He’s clearly a stand-up guy…

LaBarbera went on to note, “A school will bring in a gay activist, but they will never bring in an ex-gay, because that’s too risky. Because then kids can see that homosexuality is not about who you are, it’s about what you do. If you can practice homosexuality, you can leave homosexuality.”

In 2013, LaBarbera claimed that the high number of cases of STIs and violence among LGBT people is God’s work and is “reassuring”.
