This morning the TV3 star proposed to his partner, Karl Broderick live on air
Alan Hughes was doing a feature on marriage equality for Ireland AM when he got down on one knee and asked his boyfriend, songwriter Karl Broderick to marry him.
Fortunately, Karl said YES!
During the discussion Hughes had described the changes in Irish law and attitudes towards gay people over the course of their relationship. Guest Colm O’Gorman watched in surprise as Hughes went on to propose.
Alan and Karl have been together for 22 years and were civil partnered on 30 September 2011 in the Unitarian Church.
Friends and fans took to Twitter after the proposal to wish them luck.
