New Gay Club In Town

Club guru Cormac Cashman has gotten together with fellow promoters Buzz O’Neill, Philly McMahon and Victoria Secret to take over one of Dublin’s legendary club spaces making it the newest gay venue in town. Boasting one of the best dance floors & soundsystems in the city, Cashman & Co have launched Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights in The Hub, Eustace St.

With the closure of Dragon last January, there’s been some shrinkage on Dublin’s gay scene, but as the year ends and 2016 kicks off, there’s good news for LGBTs who like to go out. The Hub in Temple Bar has become a weekend club venue, hosting two of the city’s most popular nights on Thursdays and Fridays, and a brand new extravaganza on Saturdays.

After almost seven years Dublin’s biggest students gay club night, Prhomo has settled into its new home, the Hub on Thursdays. Providing the LGBT students of Dublin with a weekly club night that incorporates cheap drinks and pop tunes, has been the Prhomo mission since its inception, and numbers are currently at a peak. “It’s nice to have a new spot,” says Prhomo’s promoter, Cormac Cashman. “The Hub is providing another option to an already vibrant gay scene in Dublin. I’m delighted that we’ve launched this alternative venue for LGBT clubbers.”

Spread across the two rooms, with pop/chart on the main floor and disco/electro/throwback fun in the back, musically Prhomo is a mish-mash made for pop junkies. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously!” says Cashman. DJs Stephen Dowling and Pixie Woo spin the tunes from 11 every Thursday, and drinks prices are kept low, with €3 cans of beer, €4 vodkas and €7 doubles. €2 shots also help grease the wheels. Prhomo.ie will take you straight to their page!

Fridays from 11pm €7 before midnight, €9 after

Taking its cues from classic queer clubs like Trade, Crash and H.A.M., SWEATBOX is flying the flag for underground gay dance culture in Dublin.

With an exceptional dance floor, two bars, a chill out space and cruise area, SWEATBOX has grown over the past 12 months into a stomper of a Friday night, offering a fresh perspective for the Dublin gay scene. With a strong belief in supporting and harnessing local talent, SWEATBOX DJs include residents The Audio Pilots, as well as regular guests John Power, DJ Karen and Paddy Scahill. International guests include HOMOFAGGOT, producer Mr. A of STROKE ,Finland. It’s all about the music at SWEATBOX.

“For me, gay underground Dublin has never sounded so good,” said DJ and producer (and beaut), John Power about the club. “There really hasn’t been anything like Sweatbox since those legendary Friday nights at P.O.D. way back when, where it was all about quality house music on a killer sound system with a hot, friendly, sometimes shirtless party crowd that go all night. SWEATBOX is all of that and more. It’s grown into a community. And for me, returning from a long stint in Sydney, it’s a welcome reminder of what’s so unique about Dublin.” The dream team behind SWEATBOX have been entertaining the queers for years and have offered seminal nights out such as Bukakke, WERK and Mother, and created SWEATBOX in response to a hole in the Dublin gay scene left by the closure of The Dragon. A place where dancing and cruising takes top priority, where drinks prices and admission are kept low, and where the focus is on creating a massive party every Friday!
