On the night of Tuesday, September 22, The Traitors Ireland came to a dramatic conclusion as host Siobhán McSweeney crowned the winners around the fire pit. The nail-biting moment marked the end of Season 2, which will surely go down as one of the franchise’s queerest iterations to date.
The finale began with four contestants: traitors Carla Geary and Pauric O’Meara, and faithfuls Anna Murphy and Diego Caixeta. Ultimately, it was the latter who emerged victorious, as Carla was banished by a chance dagger and Pauric fell victim to a last-minute betrayal from Diego, the player he trusted most to bring him to the end.
With just two people left in the game, Anna and Diego revealed to each other that they were, in fact, faithful, securing the €45,850 prize pot to split between them.

Anna, a 27-year-old postal worker from Dublin, later shared that she would be putting her portion of the winnings towards IVF with her partner.
“We are looking to get a house first, which in this economy don’t get me started, but once that is done and dusted we’ll be on to looking at starting a family together,” she said. “It’s really exciting. We are hoping to go ring shopping soon.”
Anna also leaves with an extra €2,000, which she took away from one of the challenges.
On the other hand, Diego, a 40-year-old Brazilian physician associate living in Cork, wants to use the money to take his husband Denis Ryan on a honeymoon. Denis also competed on this season of the show, murdered by the traitors in one of the earlier episodes.

The winners were not the only LGBTQ+ contestants playing the game. OG traitor Carla also shared that she is in a same-sex relationship and had similarly planned to use the money for IVF. “But look sure I’ll have to go back to saving, won’t I?” she said lightheartedly.
Other openly LGBTQ+ contestants included author and Assistant Professor of Information and Communication Páraic Kerrigan, as well as stay-at-home dad David Moran.
Following the conclusion of Season 2, RTÉ has confirmed that The Traitors Ireland will return for a third instalment in 2027.
