The George is running ‘LIVE @ The George’ this Saturday the 21 May 2016 featuring Mundy, Patrick James, Elaine Mai and more

‘LIVE @ The George’ will be taking place on this Saturday 21 May 2016 from 3-8pm on the anniversary of the Yes vote in the marriage referendum last year. The event will act as a means of raising awareness in aid of Pieta House. Pieta House is a charity which aims to reduce suicide rates and provide support for those who need it.

Artists confirmed to be performing at LIVE @ The George include Mundy, Patrick James, Elaine Mai, Kate’s Party, Homonics, Kevyn, Laura Keane and Jackal, with more artists still to be announced.

The Facebook event states that:

“The reason behind The George picking this particular charity is because an alarming rate of young LGBT* people have committed suicide this year alone. Some were regular customers of The George.

All proceeds made on the door during the event will be donated to Pieta House to mark the one year anniversary of the yes vote on the marriage referendum.”

With suicide rates among young LGBT people in Ireland being at an alarming rate it is great to see local LGBT businesses tackling these issues head on.

“The event will run from 3pm to 8pm and we will ask for a door donation of €8 which will include a free pint.”

It’s for a great cause so if you’re looking for something to do before Mother presents YESTIVAL on Saturday night, this is definitely worth a look!
