“I personally will be donating money to the campaign…  because I’m passionate about it.”

As reported in the Irish Times, Joyce has made the donation which comes to €670,000 and is equivalent to over half of his base salary, in a personal capacity.

A postal vote is taking place this week in Australia to guage the level of support for same-sex marriage in the country.

According to the Australian Financial Review, the donation from Joyce, who is gay, is the largest individual contribution to the Yes campaign.

“I personally will be donating money to the campaign, a significant amount, because I’m passionate about it,” Joyce told reporters last month. “I’ll be spending as much time as the campaign wants me to speak about the cause. Companies and business leaders should be out there on social issues.”
