The Rainbow Ball is the signature annual fundraising event hosted by BeLonG To Youth Services last year raising €53,000 work to eliminate bullying from schools across Ireland.
The Rainbow Ball offers a night of celebration, impact and awareness for the lifesaving support services offered by BeLonG To Youth Services. Executive Director, Moninne Griffith said, “We know that providing support to LGBT+ young people saves lives. This is what we do at BeLonG To.
“With the support of events such as The Rainbow Ball, we can help young LGBT+ people person that need support and continue our mission to create a world where they can express who they are, and who they love, without experiencing hate and discrimination.
“This year we hope to top last year’s amazing total and raise even more funds for our work to eliminate bullying of LGBT+ young people.”
The second annual Rainbow Ball will be hosted by author and journalist Róisín Ingle and takes place in the Clayton Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin 4 on the evening of Friday, November 16, 2018. Guests will be treated to a gin and champagne reception, a 3-course meal, entertainment, and special guests.
The event, sponsored by Aviva, The Coco-Cola Company, Marks & Spencer, slack, Dalata Hotel Group, Irish Life, Intel and Microsoft, marks the end of Stand Up Awareness Week. Funds raised from the event will fund this second-level school event which tackles anti LGBT+ bullying that can silence students and seriously impact their mental health.
As part of Stand Up Awareness Week and in partnership with Facebook, BeLonG To launched a guide to target cyberbullying entitled ‘End Bullying, Be Kind Online’. Stand Up Awareness Week sees secondary schools promote inclusion for their LGBT+ students, as well as taking a stand against homophobic and transphobic bullying.
‘End Bullying, Be Kind Online’ provides practical advice and tips on handling cyberbullying. The guide includes information on the best language to use, advice on how to support someone dealing with online abuse and practical steps to stay safe on Facebook.

Support GCN
GCN has been a vital, free-of-charge information service for Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community since 1988.
During this global COVID pandemic, we like many other organisations have been impacted greatly in the way we can do business and produce. This means a temporary pause to our print publication and live events and so now more than ever we need your help to continue providing this community resource digitally.
GCN is a registered charity with a not-for-profit business model and we need your support. If you value having an independent LGBTQ+ media in Ireland, you can help from as little as €1.99 per month. Support Ireland’s free, independent LGBTQ+ media.
