The Cultural Importance Of A Certain Aoife McGregor Voicemail, Released This Time Last Year

On April 12 last year, Aoife McGregor (sister of Conor) gave us a wonderful gift – in the form of a certain Whatsapp voice message war with her dog groomers that leaked online.

In a message from one employee at the groomers, we hear in no uncertain terms that Aoife’s dog will have to go somewhere else for its haircuts from now on. Its human has left this professional woman waiting too many times, it seems, and apparently has a habit of making her pooch’s appointments second to her own grooming needs.

Aoife, of course, wasn’t having any of it. In case you’ve forgotten, here’s her reaction in her own words.

Aoife McGregor may be the lesser-known sibling in her family – her brother used to get all the attention, whether for his fighting skills or for his kind words to the LGBT+ community. With this stunning display, though, she made her presence felt. She’s shown us all, in true Irish fashion, how to make our voices heard.

There’s nothing like an appearance from the legendary banshee to bring the people of this country together. Aoife McGregor has been an inspiration to us all.

Ireland’s queer community, in particular, haven’t hesitated to use the epic display for our own purposes. After all, we’re the ones with all the talent for fine music.

If any voice were ever made for Dublin’s queens to honour on the stage, it’s Aoife’s.

We do feel sorry for her. She may be getting some attention now, after all, but she probably has some regrets about her tirade.

We want her to know she has nothing to be ashamed of. Even Amazon Alexa could learn a thing or two from her, as this clever YouTube video points out.

Thank you, Aoife McGregor, one year on, for giving us the inspiration we didn’t know we needed.
