Love Sensation, a brand new queer festival, takes place on August 17 and 18, 2019, at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin. It is the brainchild of Mother founder and club night veteran Cormac Cashman, who today announced new additions to the eclectic line-up.
These acts include: Le Galaxie, Jenny Greene, Sink the Pink DJs, Elm, Shirley Temple Bar, Sing Along Social, Drag Aerobics, Toucan, Prymary Colours, Miss Kate, Regina George, Paul Ryder, and Phil T Gorgeous
They will be joined by RuPaul’s Drag Race icons Monet X Change, Naomi Smalls, Jujubee, Laganja Estranja, and Sonique, as well as artists such as Lily Allen, Clean Bandit, Kelis, Irish DJ Daithí, the Queen of Ireland herself Panti Bliss, and more.
Speaking to GCN, Cashman says that Love Sensation feels like a natural progression for him. He says: “Back in 2015, the Marriage Equality referendum was a huge moment for our community and our country, and that night of the results we threw a big celebratory party.
“From that, year on year, to mark the anniversary we ran a sold-out show called Yestival. It was a euphoric event, each year reminding us of the victorious referendum result.”
With the recent closure of the Tivoli, home to Yestival since its inception, Cashman decided it was time to expand.
He continues: “We felt like the time was right to grow the event and to move it on from being a celebration of that iconic vote in our history, but still keep an emphasis on love and inclusivity, keep the spirit of that event alive, and from this Love Sensation was born.”
“We’ve been wanting to run our own music festival for a long time, we’ve been programming running stages at other festivals for years and we’ve been lucky enough that our Pride Block Party had been selling out year on year, the time just feels right for us to launch a music festival.”
Day tickets are priced at €65.70, including booking fee, and will go on sale on Wednesday, May 22 at 9am.
