Queen of Ireland, HIV and AIDS advocate, and lifetime campaigner for LGBT+ rights, drag performer Rory O’Neill AKA Panti Bliss, has tied the knot four years on from Ireland’s historic win for marriage equality, the campaign for which he was at the forefront.
Rory shared the news on his Twitter, posting a picture of himself and his partner, Anderson Cabrera, who have been in a relationship for about a year.

Rory O’Neill, AKA Panti, played an instrumental role in the struggle for marriage equality, establishing himself as an undisputed icon for LGBT+ rights in Ireland. His contributions culminated in the release of The Queen of Ireland, a documentary showcasing Panti as a figurehead in the successful movement for marriage equality.
His historic 2014 Noble Call speech in the Abbey Theatre about prejudice and homophobia in Ireland was hugely popular and was translated into a number of different languages.

Pride Grand Marshall Will St Leger also shared good wishes for the couple: “So happy for you and Anderson ❤️.”
Another Twitter user wrote: “Congratulations, may marriage bring so much joy to you both, like the joy you bring to so many others. Enjoy the celebrations. x”
Una Mulally commented on Instagram: “That lesbian certificate thing really escalated! ? Big love to you both ??”
