From the tricks and treats on Netflix, we picked seven of the best Horror movies to enjoy this Halloween. So turn off the lights if you dare and get ready for a jump scare.

With a range of TV shows and movies to pick from, there is something for everyone to get their spook on. From witches to ghosts to vampires, all the creepies are out in force, and the Ouija is abuzz.

So prepare for some frights and thrills this Halloween as we look through seven horror movies:

1) Eli

A boy is cut off from the outside world and must remain inside a protective suit due to his autoimmune disease. However, what happens when during medical treatment, he finds himself trapped in a haunted house along with Lili Taylor’s spine-chillingly sweet portrayal of Doctor Isabella Horn. This movie is a claustrophobic rollercoaster ride of thrills and scares.

2) Gerald’s Game

An attempt to spice up a relationship with a bit of kinky handcuff play descends into a hellish world of ghostly voices and surreal visions in the movie Gerald’s Game. Based on Stephen King’s 1992 novel, the film follows Jessie Burlingame, played by Carla Gugino, who is stuck handcuffed to her bed in the middle of the woods. Gerald’s Game is a movie which will leave you rattled days afterwards.

3) The Influence (La influencia)

Three generations of women must face a dark force awakening in their house. Alicia returns to her childhood home to help her sister care for their comatose mother. Yet when her daughter is preyed upon by a supernatural horror, an unstoppable dread is unleashed. Spanish horror doesn’t get better than this.

4) Malevolent

No one scams Celia Imrie and gets away with it. Yet a brother-sister team attempt to do just that, earning cash by fabricating supernatural occurrences. Things become a little bit too real when they try to fraud Miss Green (Celia Imrie). If you are in the mood for some spooky fun, this movie is a great choice.

5) Eerie

Is there anything more terrifying than a nun? Eerie certainly does not think so. This Filipino horror movie takes place in an old Catholic school for girls as it is thrown into chaos following the death of a student.

6) The Exorcism of Emily Rose

This is a fascinating and utterly unnerving movie which follows a priest as he is charged with the death of a young girl following an exorcism he performed. Before every horror movie was labelled “Based on true events,” this one was, and the film perfectly captures the creepiness of the case. More psychological horror than supernatural, the Exorcism of Emily Rose will haunt you.

7) XX

Why go with one horror movie when you can have a four-in-one for your nerves? Four female film directors join forces to unleash otherworldly terror onto our screens. Each director brings a unique perspective and vision to their story that rattles the viewer to the core. Jovanka Vuckovic, Annie Clark, Roxanne Benjamin and Karyn Kusama are all slaying the game with this anthology movie. Plus there are talks of a T.V spin-off show

If you survive these horror movies, let us know ‘what’s your favourite scary movie?’
