On May 25, the new trailer for Barbie was released, accompanied by the announcement of the film’s soundtrack, and we are here for it!
While the clip once again proves that Margot Robbie’s character truly is a Barbie Girl living in a Barbie World, as she goes through an existential crisis, Barbie World suddenly seems less and less perfect.
Whether it be her shower going cold or falling off her roof, there seems to be some trouble in pink paradise. Worst of all, Barbie’s feet seem to have gone flat! Needless to say, she and all the other Barbies are in total shock.
In order to make sense of her not-so-perfect surroundings, the protagonist is seen visiting Kate McKinnon’s Weird Barbie, who gives her the choice of remaining in Barbie World or going to the real world to find the true meaning of life.
Once on the way to reality, with Ryan Gosling’s Ken as a backseat passenger, the two have no idea what awaits them on the other side.
Arriving in the real world, they find themselves in a string of precarious situations, including getting arrested, being on the run, getting sexually harassed while on rollerblades and being caught in a car chase.
The new trailer also gives us a few spectacular sneak peeks of some of the queer stars of the Barbie film. Among others, we see Alexandra Shipp, Hari Nef, and of course, Kate McKinnon. Also featuring in the film will be Helen Mirren, America Ferrera, Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, and many more.
Making her acting debut as Mermaid Barbie, Dua Lipa will appear on screen for the first time! And the good news doesn’t end there; the singer also features on the Barbie soundtrack with a song released just last night! That makes ‘Dance the Night’ the first song from the movie to be released.
The rest of the soundtrack will feature artists like Ava Max, Charli XCX, Dominic Fike, Fifty Fifty, Gayle, HAIM, Ice Spice, Kali, Karol G, Khalid, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, PinkPantheress, Ryan Gosling, Tame Impala and The Kid Laroi.

Potentially with more artists to be announced, the album is dropping on July 21, the same day the movie hits the cinemas.
So stay tuned, all you Barbies and Kens – it’s not long before we can escape reality and spend a spectacular afternoon in a Barbie World all of our own.
