Hold on to your plaid and knee socks, 90s fans! ‘Clueless: The Musical’ is actually going to happen!
It’s been two decades since we’ve seen valley girl Cher Horowitz and her posse in cult classic Clueless – and we’ve been gagging for more Melrose mischief ever since. Okay, there was a TV spin-off series, but we wanted MORE.
The film’s director Amy Heckerling has granted our wishes! She confirmed that a musical version of the teen classic was in the works. “I’ve written the, what they call the book and it’s a jukebox musical,” Heckering said to Entertainment Tonight.
In the interview, Heckerling also revealed that the stage show will be directed by Kristin Hanggi known for her success with Rock of Ages.
Clueless, which originally starred Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy and Stacey Dash, is yet to be cast. Although Heckerling already has some stars in mind for the lead role.
“Katy Perry has expressed interest, and I love her to death,” she told Rolling Stone, adding, “Maybe Iggy Azalea would do it!”
We can’t wait!
