Well that’s a turn up for the books! Austria’s Eurovision song, ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’ by drag superstar Conchita Wurst is currently the most downloaded song on the Russian iTunes chart.

Conchita Wurst walked away the Eurovision champion on Saturday night, beating out 25 other finalists. The winning entry, ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’ is now topping download charts all over Europe, and even more bizarrely… in Russia.

The ultra-conservative country had previously petitioned unsuccessfully to have the Eurovision broadcast censored to not include the bearded drag queen. One Russian politician lashed out at the whole contest, calling it a “Europe-wide gay parade” and a “Sodom show”.

After Conchita’s landslide victory he posted online, “There’s no limit to our outrage. It’s the end of Europe. It has turned wild. They don’t have men and women any more. They have ‘it'”.

“Outrage”, eh?

Doesn’t look like it…
