The PRISMA Queer Film Festival is coming to Cork on August 25 for a day-long event including talks, workshops, screening and networking opportunities. The festival will focus on the LGBTQ+ community in Cork and their representation in film, their use of film activism and their role in the industry.
This new initiative is organised by Out of Frame, a platform for diverse filmmakers to share their work and engage in meaningful dialogue. The group organises monthly Film Talks, inviting filmmakers to showcase their projects and have creative exchanges with the audience.
For their August 25 event, Out of Frame is expanding their monthly session into a full-day event dedicated to all film lovers, activists, and anyone passionate about LGBTQ+ representation in the arts. With the support of the National Talent Academies, PRISMA Queer Film Festival is designed to highlight the voices and stories of the queer community in Cork and their role in the film industry.
The event will kick off at 12pm with a free discussion on queer representation in film with Sam Ahern, Alba Fernandez and Natasha Waugh, hosted by Shane Joyce. It will be followed by a workshop titled “Enough Queer Trauma!” with screenwriter and director Jonathan Hughes.
