Darren Criss and Chris Colfer have delighted Glee fans after reuniting for a surprise duet at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, October 18.

It’s been over a decade since the pair tied the knot as Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson on Ryan Murphy’s hit musical comedy Glee, which ran from 2009 to 2015.

Their relationship became one of the show’s most beloved at a time when queer representation was both important and rare. Their presence was a valuable milestone for LGBTQ+ representation on mainstream television.

Colfer’s character Kurt was one of the show’s central openly gay characters, with storylines about coming out, bullying, and first love. Since the series ended, Colfer has also enjoyed a successful career as an award-winning children’s author.

Before surprising the audience with Colfer’s appearance, Criss reflected on the response to their memorable duet of ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’, which the pair originally performed in the show’s second season in 2010.

Criss then began the song alone, telling the audience: “I am kind of solo tonight, so I’m going to do my best to sing both parts.”

However, fans were already cheering when a familiar voice interrupted the performance.

“The only thing inappropriate about doing this song is doing it without me,” Colfer joked as he walked onto the stage.

The audience erupted into applause as the two actors reunited to perform the Christmas classic, more than 11 years after Glee aired its final episode.

Colfer wasn’t the only surprise guest at Criss’ Royal Albert Hall performances. Alan Cumming joined him for ABBA’s ‘Does Your Mother Know’, while Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo performed ‘Lost Boys Life’, a song Criss wrote and recorded with his late brother Chuck for their band Computer Games.

Modern Family stars Sarah Hyland and Jesse Tyler Ferguson also made appearances, performing ‘Suddenly Seymour’ from Little Shop of Horrors and Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’, respectively.

The Glee reunion comes just weeks after Ryan Murphy revealed that he had completed a script for a potential reboot of the beloved series. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at an American Horror Story event in September, Murphy confirmed he wrote the script with original co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.

Murphy also revealed he had been in contact with about 10 original cast members, who were enthusiastic about returning.

While a reboot hasn’t been officially confirmed, the surprise reunion of Darren Criss and Chris Colfer has certainly given Gleeks another reason to celebrate.
