Dublin Pride 2018 Kicks Off!

It's June 21st- Happy Dublin Pride!

Celebrating Dublin Pride on O'Connell Street

It’s June 21st, the official start of Dublin Pride 2018. This year’s festival spans 10 whole days of fabulous fun. Tens of thousands of people are expected to flood the city over the course of the this year’s Pride-fest, which builds up to the country’s biggest Pride parade on June 30th.

This year’s Dublin Pride is officially MASSIVE. Everything from intellectual, cultural debates to glittertastic drag performances and parties galore make up this year’s celebrations.

Today, you can celebrate the launch of Pride at 98fm’s boozy Pride Disco Brunch from 12-3pm at The George Bar. And tonight, we launch GCN’s very own GCN30 exhibition- celebrating 30 years of the magazine! We’re kicking off in the National Gallery of Photography, so pop-in over the next 2 weeks and chart the history of our fabulous wee magazine. Curated by our founder Tonie Walsh, you won’t want to miss this unique look inside the world of GCN and the stories of the Irish LGBTQ+ community that have filled our pages 3 decades.

A look inside the GCN30 Exhibition

Over the next 10 days there is nothing but fantastic queer events to choose from. Tomorrow, head out to Phoenix Park and break a sweat at the Dublin Pride Run 5K. On June 24th, why not head out for a night at the theatre for A Day in Maya drama documentary style play that looks back at that glorious day in May 2 years ago when Ireland voted YES to marriage equality. Bop along to The George, Whelans or any number of venues across Dublin to dance the night away, Pride-style.

On June 30th, cover yourself in all nothing but rainbows and glitter for the annual Pride parade! This year’s theme is ‘We Are Family’, so bring along your nearest and dearest and celebrate your fabulous queer self!

Plus, FLAC have announced today that they will host a Free Legal Advice Clinic specifically for the LGBTQ community next week, on Monday 25th June. FLAC CEO Eilis Barry has said ““FLAC is delighted to host a free legal advice clinic in a safe, queer-positive, non-judgemental and inclusive space for the LBGTQ community”. They’re just one of the organisations working to support the LGBTQ community of Dublin during Pride.

So strap yourself in and prepare for 10 days of non-stop celebration!
