After a study found there was a serious lack of LGBT leads in romantic movies, Buzzfeed Australia created this great video reimagining iconic films in the pink.
The study from the University of California found that in 2014-2015, just two per cent of 11,194 speaking characters in movies identified as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. There were no transgender characters.
Two-thirds of the gay or bisexual characters were male, and 84.2 per cent of depicted LGBT characters were white.
The study also found that most of the LGBT characters were located in comedies, with jokes made at their expense.
BuzzFeed created some queer interpretations of classic romantic movies, because the study found that love stories between same-sex characters were few and far between. Our favourite is the super-romantic reinterpretation of The Notebook. What’s yours?
