Gay women stand next to each other, must be dating

Television producer Shauna Keogh today dismissed claims that she is dating fellow gay, former Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh.

The pair were spotted attending The Gossies Awards on Sunday night, prompting media speculation that they are romantically involved. This was quickly dismissed by Keogh (left), who told the Irish Sun that, although both gay, they are not a couple. Keogh revealed that they are merely collaborating on several TV projects.

“We’ve had so many questions asking if Maria and I are together,” Shauna told The Irish Sun, as reported by The Independent. “We know people are interested and these questions aren’t going to go away. We knew this was going to come up and people are going to come to the wrong decision, but myself and Maria are just friends and work colleagues.”

“Myself and Maria are definitely going to be hanging out at more events together. We’re both gay and if the two of us turning up on a red carpet together makes it easier for same-sex couples, that’s great.”

Walsh, who became the first openly gay Rose in 2014, also dismissed the rumours. “I know people have been asking Shauna if she was my girlfriend, but I’m not in a relationship. We are just two people working on ideas together.”

There you have it: not all lesbians standing close to each other are romantically intertwined. Run and tell the mainstream media.
