Registration begins this Monday 16 for Glitter Tits – a non-profit DJ course run by H&G Creations, focused on inspiring women and the queer community to unleash their musical party monster. With the currently industry being overwhelmingly masculine, the objective of the course is to offer an affordable introduction to DJing in a supportive environment, taught by Dublin’s cream of the crop.
Aimed at absolute beginners with a desire to fill dance floors and get parties started, the six intimate classes will be hosted weekly in Dublin city centre every Wednesday evening from 7pm – 10pm, with the outcome not only to give participants the knowledge to prepare for a career as a professional DJ but also focus on getting those students booked for future events.
Led by mixing luminaries such as Nialler9, Aimie (Le Boom), Mix And Fairbanks, Colin Devine (South William) and Jus Damien (Momentum), the course will conclude with a party to end all parties where the students will be given the opportunity to showcase their new found talents in front of potential bookers. Two students will also be given the chance to play at H&G’s Halloween event – Tall Tales House of Kitsuné, as well as at their huge New Year’s Eve event.
Dylan, a spokesperson for the course, says, “The music industry has a very masculine environment. From experience being the front man in Elm, [a proudly queer pop band] I have felt the need to hold my queerness up and be proud of who I am, and what my band represents. However, this isn’t always easy. I have been verbally attacked on stage for my feminine clothing. This course is about celebrating the students’ glamness, beauty and inner disco diva.”
