This time, Ricky Gervais way have gone too far with his comments on Caitlyn Jenner’s transition – with the audience calling his jokes transphobic and misogynistic.
“But as I say I’m gonna be nice tonight. I’ve changed,” said Gervais during his opening monologue. “Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously. Now Caitlyn Jenner, of course. What a year she’s had! She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes.
“She didn’t do a lot for women drivers. But you can’t have everything, can you? Not at the same time,” he said, referencing the highly publicised car accident she was involved in, in which one woman was fatally injured.
Needless to say, Twitter exploded with criticism of the host.

Ricky however, was left unaffected by the complaints – saying he expected more!
18.5 Million Americans watched my monologue at The Globes last night so I’m disappointed NBC haven’t got more complaints. I’m slipping.
