Grumpy Cat: The Movie To Get Christmas Release

In strange yet amazing news, Grumpy Cat herself will star in a feature length movie which is described as “a little bit Home Alone, a little bit Die Hard.”

The internet’s most famous furrow-browed feline is set to make her acting debut in festive TV movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever. Okay, we know what you are thinking – this will be awful – we thought that too until Spongebob Squarepants writer, Tim Hill, signed on to write the script, and compared it to Home Alone and Die Hard. At the very least, we are intrigued.

The live-action film will reportedly centre around Grumpy Cat, the outsider cat who has a grudge against the world, but learns to trust again after befriending a 12 year-old girl who can communicate with her.. for some reason. Sounds like the makings of a Christmas classic already!

The TV movie will be made by US cable network Lifetime, and the network president Arturo Interian promises Grumpy Cat’s Worse Christmas Ever will bring “fun and irreverence that we haven’t had at Lifetime” and will “poke fun at the heartfelt sentimentality” of the other TV movies that the Lifetime is known for.

Grumpy Cat, real name Tardar Sauce, rose to fame in 2012 after her owners posted pictures and videos of her to Reddit. Since then, she has appeared on numerous talk shows and at awards ceremonies. When she’s not giving interviews and shooting movies, she’s hanging out with famous friends like Anderson Cooper and Ian Somerhalder.

While she is famous for being “grumpy” she actually has a form of feline dwarfism which makes her look constantly angry.  Her owners, however, are adamant that she is no more grumpy than a regular house cat. Which, to be fair, is still pretty grumpy.

Who will be playing the voice of Grumpy Cat in the film is yet to be confirmed – but we think that the obvious choice would be Sir Ian McKellen.
