Heartstopper fans rejoice! Netflix has just announced some exciting new details about Heartstopper Season 3, including a release date.

Netflix announced the news on social media, writing: “Heartstopper returns this October.”

In the post, the streaming platform similarly shared some plot details for the upcoming episodes, writing: “This season, Charlie would like to tell Nick that he loves him. Nick also has something important to say to Charlie.”

Netflix continued its description of Heartstopper Season 3, saying: “As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges.

“As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan.”

The series has followed the friends-to-lovers story of Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) since it first debuted to audiences in 2022, though the graphic novels that the show is based on, written by Alice Oseman, were published in 2019.

In addition to the announcement on X, Netflix similarly shared some behind-the-scenes footage of Heartstopper Season 3.

The video, which features much of the cast, including Yasmin Finney (Elle Argent) and William Gao (Tao Xu), was filmed on the set of Season 3’s finale episode and discusses what to expect in the show’s third instalment.

The clip opens on Connor teasing that Nick and Charlie’s relationship gets more intimate in the new episodes.

“It’s started to get a bit more steamy,” said Connor. “The tension is high. It’s like sexual tension, love, we’re all there.”

Fans of the cosy queer series took to social media following the announcement to share their excitement for Hearstopper’s upcoming third season.

X user @umeanthePRNDL celebrated the news, sharing a gif from the series and writing: “#Heartstopper SEASON 3 WILL BE RELEASED THIS OCTOBER I CAN’T WAIT

Author Jandy Nelson, whose LGBTQ+ novel I’ll Give You the Sun is held aloft by Tobie Donovan (who plays the show’s asexual bookworm Isaac) in the new behind-the-scenes clip, reposted the image on X, writing: “This is so cool! I adore #Heartstopper!

While no specific date has been given for the release of Heartstopper Season 3, Netflix reported that the series will return to the streaming platform sometime in October 2024.
