Katie Hopkins Defends Dolce & Gabbana

Professional troll Katie Hopkins has come out in defense of Dolce & Gabbana – after their comments about same-sex parents went viral.

The Big Brother runner-up tweeted her support for the gay fashion duo after their opinions on IVF and “non-traditional” families.

Last week in an interview with Italy’s Panorama Magazine, designers Dominico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana blasted “non-traditional” families saying, “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. […] No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed.”

Since the comments were made public, Elton John has announced a boycott of the fashion house, with celebrities such as Ricky Martin and Ryan Murphy joining in.

But the ex Apprentice contestant Katie Hopkins has now thrown in her two cents, joining the likes of Piers Morgan, to announce her disagreement with the Dolce & Gabbana boycott. How surprising.

In an online column for Now titled ‘Leave Dolce & Gabbana alone! They are entitled their opinions,’ Hopkins wrote: “Dolce and Gabbana are gay men. They used to be a couple. Now accused of homophobia, exactly who is being intolerant? You or them?” In 2006, shortly after their breakup, Domenico Gabbana revealed that he had asked a female friend to carry his child, one he would have through artificial insemination.  “I want my own child, a biological child, the fruit of my sperm, conceived through artificial insemination because it wouldn’t make sense for me to make love to a woman I don’t love,” he told Vanity Fair.
