‘Orange is the New Black’ actress and trans activist, Laverne Cox, is set to break new ground once again as she is cast as an attorney in, ‘Doubt’, a legal drama being produced by CBS.

When she’s not making history on the cover of Time Magazine, schooling Katie Couric on trans issues or being Beyoncé’s BFF – we sometimes forget that the fierce Ms.Cox is in fact, an actor.

According to reports, CBS have cast Laverne Cox in new TV pilot, Doubt. She will star as Cameron Wirth, an Ivy-League educated, hot-shot attorney with a heart of gold. The character was always intended to be openly trans and is described as “competitive as she is compassionate.”

According to the official character description, Laverne’s character “is fierce, funny and the fact that she’s experienced injustice first hand makes her fight all the harder for her clients.”

If the show gets picked up for a full season, it will be the first time a trans person will be series regular on a CBS primetime show.
