Two Iowa women in their 90s have finally wed after being in a relationship for an astonishing 72 years.
Vivian Boyack (90) and Alice “Nonie” Dubes (90) exchanged vows in a small ceremony of just family and close friends at First Christian Church in Davenport, Iowa. The couple held hands in the church as Rev. Linda Hunsaker told the congregation, “This is a celebration of something that should have happened a very long time ago.”
Boyack and Dubes met in their hometown of Yale, Iowa before relocating to Davenport in 1947. They have been living their together ever since.
In their seven decades as a couple, the lovebirds have visited all 50 states together, as well as every province in Canada and even England on two occasions. “We’ve had a good time,” Dubes said, before her new wife added, “It takes a lot of love and work to keep a relationship going for 72 years.”
Same-sex marriage was legalised in the state of Iowa in 2009.
