Summer is well underway, and many of us are still refining our summer playlists. If you’re looking for new LGBTQ+ artists to add to your playlist of favourite songs, from Pride pop anthems to glitchy upbeat tracks, there’s plenty of new queer music coming out of Ireland this summer.

Let’s check out 11 of the hottest LGBTQ+ artists and their latest summer hits!

ELLYD – ‘I Will Wait’
‘I Will Wait’ is the first single from Dublin-based pop singer ELLYD’s debut album Tomorrow Be Kind. ELLYD has previously performed at major Irish musical festivals, including Electric Picnic

 

 

NIYL – ‘Not In Your Life’
Merging his soulful sound with electro-pop influences, Limerick  artist NIYL gave us his latest single ‘Not In Your LIfe’, the first of several tracks from his debut album Parish is Burning.

 

Chapel Lizard – ‘Summer Sun’
Chapel Lizard, the alter-ego of queer non-binary dreampop bedroom artist, David Monaghan, presents their debut single ‘Summer Sun’. Lizard lives in Dublin, but hails from Co Wexford. 

 

HannahBella – ‘Keep Up’
‘Keep Up’ is described as a “glitchy upbeat track” that combines elements of DnB, pop, and rock music into a singular track. HannahBella says the track will appeal to fans of Wargasm, Charli XCX, and Caroline Polacheck.

 

The Irrepressibles – ‘Yo Homo’
From their latest album Be Wild, The Irrepressibles present ‘Yo Homo’, a queer punk-rock anthem. The music video for the single stars London-based drag performer Joseph Wilson. 

 

Elaine Mai (ft. MuRli) – ‘Echo’
Produced by Irish DJ Elaine Mae, ‘Echo’ has been described as an uplifting and hopeful new single. Fans of the track can come see Elaine Mai perform live at Dublin’s The Button Factory on November 22nd. 

 

The X Collective – ‘BIG’
The X Collective, a “dynamic supergroup of Irish artists and creatives who write, record, release and perform together in a mass-collaborative nature” stars Irish artists Celaviedmai, Jamel Franklin, and Shanny. Be sure to add these amazing LGBTQ+ artists to your summer playlist!

 

Pastiche – ‘Dizzy’
‘Dizzy’, the latest single from homegrown pop star, Pastiche, has been described as being perfect for fans of Charli XCX and Chappell Roan. The single comes after Pastiche’s last single, ‘Forfeit Control’, soared to no. 3 on the Irish Radio Breakers Chart. 

 

Púca – ‘And I Gleam Along A Knife Edge’
Kildare-native Púca releases their latest single ‘And I Gleam Along A Knife Edge’, saying that the track was inspired by “great Irish traditions of mourning and the celebration of life”. The music video accompanying the new single stars Irish drag legend Lavender. 

JD Kelleher – ‘The Devil Is In The Details’
Queer Irish singer/songwriter, JD Kelleher, announces his new pride pop anthem ‘The Devil Is In The Details’ in homage to the LGBTQ+ community.  Kelleher’s acclaimed cover of ‘Over the Rainbow’ performed last year rocketed the artist to new heights, making 2023 their most successful year in music to date. If you’re still celebrating Pride, Kelleher is the perfect LGBTQ+ artist to add to your summer Pride playlist. 

Nissu – ‘Connection’
‘Connection’ is an upbeat motivational track by Dublin-based Brazilian singer/songwriter Nissu. The artist said that the track was inspired by queer loneliness during the COVID-19 lockdowns. 

 

SOOJUNG – ‘The Man of 3000 Years’
By way of Korea comes Cork-based singer/songwriter SOOJUNG’s latest track, ‘The Man of 3000 Years’. According to the artist, the track explores themes of gender, folklore, and third cultures.
