Elaine Mai released the title track from her upcoming EP, ‘The Colour Of The Night’
Elaine Mai has released the lead track off her upcoming EP, ‘The Colour Of The Night’ in advance of the EP launch on Friday, May 5 at 8pm in the Workman’s Club.
The release of ‘The Colour Of The Night’, a track which Mai considers to be deeply personal, follows the release of ‘Enniscrone’ in late 2016.
“Over the last few years, I have encountered close personal grief for the first time and this track is about that experience,” Mai said.
“The melody and movement in the strings are a musical representation of the journey from sorrow and despair to acceptance and hope.
“Although the person you loved is gone, there is joy in their memory, solace in the time that was shared together and ‘The Colour of the Night’ captures that for me.”
Elaine Mai will be joined by special guest Liza Flume at the EP launch following her release of the haunting and emotional video remix of Liza Flume’s ‘Sheets’.
Below is some additional information from the EP launch Facebook event page:
“Since the release of her last EP in 2014, Elaine has been expanding upon her previous critically acclaimed live performances, experimenting with her live show as well as her approach to song-writing and production.Over the past two years, she has released several new remixes and co-produced the track Rocamadour with Irish producer, Daithí. She also wrote and produced the music for Finem Respice, a play which enjoyed a sold out run as part of the 2016 Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival.
Almost three years in the making, her new EP is a cathartic piece of work which centres around the common human experiences of grief and hope.”
‘The Colour Of The Night’ is available to buy on iTunes now and it can be listened to on Spotify and Deezer.
Mai will also perform in the Roisin Dubh in Galway City on Saturday, May 6 at 9pm.
