This month’s GCN cover boy and singer/songwriter Sam Smith has covered the 1985 Whitney Houston classic, How Will I Know, in a live performance on Sirius XM.

The 22 year-old singer, who released his debut album In The Lonely Hour last week, performed a paired-back downtempo version of the Houston hit, which you can listen to below.

Smith, who has duetted with Mary J Blige on Good Morning America, revealed he was gay last month, saying, “Why is my sexuality a talking point? I’m singing, I’m making music, I’m performing my music—that’s what should be the talking point”. He went on to tell FADER that while he has never been in a relationship, his album is “about a man I fell in love with”.
