Love Tempo has announced that it will be “closed for some time” after a fire broke out in the bar on Sunday, March 2. No injuries were reported after emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5:30pm, temporarily closing Thomas Street as they tended to the blaze.
“Thank you so much to everyone for all your messages of concern regarding today’s fire,” Love Tempo wrote on Instagram after the incident.
“We’re all a bit shaken but just relieved nobody was hurt. It will take a while to assess the damage but unfortunately it looks like we will be closed for some time.”
Love Tempo thanked its “amazing team for reacting so quickly” and the Dublin Fire Brigade “for their incredible work”. Firefighters from the Tara Street and Dolphin’s Bar stations were deployed, with breathing apparatus teams extinguishing the flames. A turntable ladder was also on the scene.

Located in the former home of The Clock on 110 Thomas Street, Love Tempo was opened in December 2024 by the people behind The Big Romance and popular LGBTQ+ club night Mother. It has become a hugely popular destination in The Liberties, boasting a unique and charming pub space, an incredible sound system, diverse drink options and authentic Mexican tacos from El Milagro.
As a music-led neighbourhood bar, it has a programme of DJs every week from Thursday to Sunday, as well as live jazz on Saturdays and many different events throughout the year. In September 2024, it hosted GCN’s My Big Fat Gay Pub Quiz, which was a huge success.
