Lady Gaga has unveiled her new video, a harrowing PSA highlighting the college rape epidemic, directed by Catherine Hardwicke.

Til It Happens To You Lady Gaga’s first single this year – a somber rock ballad with a gripping video that highlights the traumatic aftermath of rape. The video, directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Twilight, Lords of Dogtown) and starring Nikki Reed, is a gritty and honest, showing young women being raped and having to deal with the feelings of worthlessness which often affects victims of sexual assault.

The issue is close to Gaga’s heart, having previously spoken out about being raped when she was 19 by a music producer that she was working with.
