Nile Rodgers: 'I want to work with Madonna'

Nile

Disco legend Nile Rodgers has revealed that he “adores” Madonna and wants to work with her on new music.

The 61 year-old, who recently beat an “extremely aggressive” form of prostate cancer, was the producer of Madonna’s 1984 mega hit single Like A Virgin, as well as its parent album of the same name.

He told The New Yorker, “If Madonna ever wants to work I am totally down, she is the hardest-working, most dedicated, most focused person I have ever worked with and I absolutely adore her”. He added that the 56 year-old entertainer helped him beat his drug habit 20 years ago.

Rodgers has experienced something of resurgence in popularity in the last year thanks to his involvement in the Daft Punk hit Get Lucky, which went to number one in both the UK and US and went on to become the biggest selling song of Daft Punk’s career.

The Chic co-founder and lead-guitarist, who has also worked with electronic act of the moment, Disclosure, would be joining a list of prolific producers already involved in the making-of Madonna’s forthcoming album, with Grammy-nominated dance producer Aviccii and Major Lazer’s Diplo already at the helm.

Speaking about being cancer-free, Rodgers concluded, “They were counting me out, and I thought, you know, I’m going to do more records than I have ever done in my life”. Make it happen, M!
