When will the One Direction gay rumours end? This weekend the Twittersphere blew up after a video surfaced in which a drunk Louis Tomlinson supposedly said, “I’m gay, it’s pretty unfortunate.”

The Vine of the 1D heartthrob a bit tipsy after a show in Australia made Directioner’s heads explode – causing the hashtags #ImGayItsPrettyUnfortunate and #LouisWeLoveYouNoMatterWhat to trend on Twitter worldwide.

Louis Tomlinson, who is no stranger to gay rumours, was filmed at a hotel by a fan and allegedly saying that he was gay.

Can you hear it? Nope, neither do we. However, the fandom were quick to comment on the singer’s sexuality. Despite a few broken hearts, the comments were largely positive.

It seems that everyone jumped the gun a bit, as the fans that were present at the hotel in Australia were quick to deny that Louis ever said such a thing.

An unnamed fan that was in the lobby at the hotel said, “Someone had said they have the same birthday as Louis, and he said ‘it’s pretty unfortunate’… not anything else, stop making up shit.”

The girl who actually took the video also was quick to dismiss gay rumours, saying, “I hate it how people that are in a different country are telling us what happened when I was the one that videoed it!”

Despite Louis Tomlinson being in a relationship with a woman for the past two years, he has faced gay rumours in the past. In fact, his bandmates Liam Payne and Niall Horan have been wrapped up in gay rumours, along with Harry Styles who hinted that he may be bisexual in a recent interview.

Angrily addressing the rumours late last year, Louis tweeted journalist Jenn Selby from The Independent about one of her articles that hinted that he was gay:

Selby responded saying, “At no point did we insinuate anything about your sexuality or mention your relationship, and nor would we. We were merely speculating as to whether you’d shown your support to a brave man facing some persecution. For his decision to come out in public recently. I’d like to remind my readers…That being called ‘gay’ should never be insulting & that standing up for #LGBT rights is an admirable thing to do…”
