YouTube personality Adam B has announced that he is gay in a heartwarming YouTube video.

The former TV presenter has just under 3.5 million subscribers on the popular video-sharing platform.

Throughout the nine-minute video which has 395,000 views so far, he documents telling his family and friends about his sexuality.

He can be seen with his parents and his brother before talking about what it means to him now that they know “I’ve finally told you something that I was meaning to tell you for a very long time. One thing that I love about these guys is that when I told them, nothing changed… and that’s the best feeling ever.”

Adam B also shows footage of when he told his Blue Peter colleagues and friends who showered him with love and support “One big thing I’ve been working on recently is just, being more me, and being more happy, and I just wanna let you guys know that you let me open up and be more myself, and I’d just like to let you know, I am gay.”

He explains why he wanted to make a YouTube video about his personal journey saying “I wanted to create this video to show you guys my journey, to show you the way in which I decided to do it.”

Adam B goes on to say “I think the important message is just to open up and talk about whatever’s on your mind. This is about anything that you feel like you’re worried about or anything that you want to speak about, just open up. Because opening up to these guys was the best thing ever. Honestly, I was instantly a hundred times, a million times better when I told them.”

The Derry native also revealed that he has a boyfriend which was “weird to say out loud”.  Adam began to explore his sexuality after he moved to Manchester for his Blue Peter hosting opportunity.

He concludes his video by saying that despite not knowing what his fans will think or say, he would “still be living in fear” if he decided not to come out.

“Love should never mean having to live in fear. This is the most vulnerable I’ve felt in a really, really long time, and you know what, it’s the best I’ve felt my entire life.”
