Get loved up with music from Mariah, Freeform Five and Róisín Murphy, Little Dragon and Miley Vs Cedric Gervais.

On this love-orientated of days not only do we have the Love Hurts playlist for you but also this clutch of new pop tunes.

Freeform Five feat. Róisín Murphy – Leviathan

Ireland’s own Murphy has been an alternative icon for a number of years and finally it seems she’s getting around to releasing another solo album. Alongside plans for two new albums this year Murphy is finally unveiling a track that has long been played in her DJ sets but never made officially available. This team-up with house producer Freeform Five is both a call to arms and hypnotic, creating a moody swirl thanks to Murphy’s always insistent vocals.

Little Dragon – Klapp Klapp

Another cult indie-dance fave make a bold return this week. Little Dragon’s signature mix of bold production and grunge-y mood are all present on the kooky electro pop sheen of Klapp Klapp. As the title suggests this weaves a head-bob inducing handclap into proceedings which only makes this one lodge in your head even more.

Mariah Carey – You’re Mine (Eternal)

You can’t blame someone with as big a back catalogue of ballads as Mariah for doing something just in time for Valentine’s Day. Sure the video is all skin and shimmer (with both a nearly nude Mariah and Trey Songz swanning around sans-shirt offering equal opportunities eye-candy) but the song itself is a grower. It’s a solid entry in the Mariah ballad canon that will soundtrack any number of Valentine moments you had planned this evening.

Miley Cyrus Vs Cedric Gervais

You’ll know by now that the last two Miley Cyrus singles were career redefining pop smashes but latest cut Adore You is underperforming. Welcome then, commercial dance whizz Cedric Gervais whose work on Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness become a worldwide hit last year. This is a fairly standard “hands in the air” rave pop effort but by keeping the structure of the original in place Gervais lets a surprisingly sweet song play out under the the drops and pulses that will make this a hit.
