Panti Bar might need to turn its downstairs into a walk-in money safe, if reports of its record profits last year are to be believed.
According to a report in today’s Irish Independent (which doesn’t cite a source for the story) Panti Bar more than doubled its profits in 2015.
Figures provided by the site, presumably from the Companies Registration Office (CRO), state that by the end of 2015 Panty Bar Ltd, the firm owned by Rory O’Nell, made a profit off €205,359. This is a considerable increase of 2014’s profits of €82,290.
One obvious cause of the phenomenal increase in trade is 2015’s marriage equality referendum, during which Panti became a prominent and outspoken figure after her ‘Nobel Call’ speech went viral.
The success of the referendum cemented Panti’s place in the hearts of Ireland’s LGBT community and the bar has enjoyed steady trade from queer locals and tourists alike since then.
