25 year-old Kathryn Knott has been sentence to 5- 10 months in prison for attacking a gay couple in 2014.

The woman from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, who is the daughter of Pennsylvania Police Chief Karl Knott, sobbed in court as the judge sentenced her to 5 – 10 months behind bars for her role in a group assault on two gay men in a Center City “gaybourhood”.

Knott was one of 15 friends from her Catholic school who were out celebrating a birthday party in the area, before finishing their night by getting food in a local pizza restaurant. On the way to get pizza, the group assaulted a gay couple.

Witnesses told the jury that the woman was seen throwing a punch at the victim, which was also caught on CCTV. Knott contested that she was merely trying to intervene.

In December, the jury acquitted Knott of felony aggravated assault charges, but found her guilty of simple assault, reckless endangerment and conspiracy. Two other men were also arrested following the incident. Both pleaded guilty to assault and are serving probation and community service.
