A new RTÉ TWO documentary is set to pose the question: What is it like living in rural Ireland as an LGBT person? The stories feature intend to answer this question.
This documentary aims to be a snapshot of various representations from the LGBT community and so needs real stories, from real people.
All rural voices and experiences are sought, but as it is for RTÉ Two, which is aimed at a younger audience, producers are particularly interested in people anywhere between 16 – 35.
The documentary team are looking to speak to as many people as possible to garner a range of different experiences. They’re looking for both challenges faced by people, as well as inspirational stories. Is rural Ireland the same as the larger cities for LGBT people? Is there the same support and acceptance, or in some cases because it is a small community, is there actually more? These are just a couple of questions that will be asked.
There is no obligation to take part at this early stage so if people are interested but unsure about it all, the documentary makers are happy to discuss it via an informal, confidential phone call. All those taking the time to engage with the project will be appreciated and the producers will be clear about this from the outset. Interested parties should mail: ciara.mcginnity[at]rte.ie.
