Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool Will Be First Queer On-Screen Superhero

The on-screen depiction of Marvel’s favourite anti-hero Deadpool will be true to the comics and identify as “pansexual”.

In the Marvel Comics, Deadpool is a wise-cracking, sexually fluid flirt who has a penchant for breaking the forth wall. Regularly he makes sexual innuendos and tries to seduce Spiderman, Thor and Professor X.

Director Tim Miller has confirmed that Ryan Reynolds’ on screen depiction will indeed be fluid.

“There is some sexuality in this movie for sure,” Miller said Collider. “You kinda think you have moments when you’re shooting where you think, ‘This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?’

“But so far so good. Studio hasn’t crushed us with anything. They were here yesterday, they were thrilled, they saw some cut footage and so far so good.”

Deadpool will be released in North America in February 2016.

This is not the first time that Deadpool will be portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, he appeared in 2009’s X-Men Origins as the same character.
