Rumours abound today that Sherlock star Andrew Scott is going to be announced to play the Bond villain in the upcoming film, ‘Bond 24’.

Tomorrow the cast will officially be announced for the film, which is slated to be released in October 2015.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Irish actor was handpicked by director Sam Mendes due to his star-making turn as Sherlock‘s archnemesis Professor James Moriarty in the BBC adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective series.

The upcoming film, known as just Bond 24, will see Daniel Craig’s Bond come up against Scott’s villain. Scott would join Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw in the film; Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista and Christoph Waltz are also reported to join the cast.

An insider told the Mirror: “Andrew was hand-picked for a role in the new Bond movie after film bosses loved his star turn in Sherlock.”

Scott’s character, Moriarty, has had his fate left unknown as of the last episode of season three of the popular BBC series, Sherlock.

The cast for Bond 24 will be officially released tomorrow.
