Soccer Star Shares Beautiful Moment With Her Wife After World Cup Win

soccer

US soccer champion Abby Wambach and her wife Sarah Huffman shared a beautifully sweet moment after winning the women’s World Cup final against Japan last Sunday.

The 35 year-old Olympian was not only celebrating the victory, but it comes as she is rumoured to be retiring in the near future, making this the last World Cup she ever competes in. What a way to go out!

She has had quite a career though. Wambach holds the record for scoring more international goals than any other player in football history – male OR female. In 2012, she was the recipient of the World Player of the Year Award by FIFA and she is the six time winner of the US Soccer Athlete of the Year Award.

At such a pivotal and emotional moment in her career, it’s only natural that Wambach would want to share it with the woman she loves.

A tender moment caught on camera shows the player running to her wife of two years just moments after winning the cup. In light of the Supreme Court’s decision to legalise same-sex marriage in all 50 states, their sweet celebratory kiss is even more poignant.

Congratulations to team USA!
