Spanish model is Mister Spain’s first openly gay winner

Daniel Rodriguez is the 23 year old model and all around Spanish hunk who swept this years International Mister Spain to be crowned champion.

And looking at the photos its not hard to see why:

The stud beat off 47 other Spanish hopefuls to grab the top spot, and he will go on to represent the country in the Mister World competition in Toronto this autumn.

According to abc, Rodriquez came out after he was crowned, though he maintains this was not because he thought it would hurt his chances.

The pageant is hugely popular in Spain and Rodriquez will be the subject of huge amounts of media exposure – a plus for the already well accepted gay community there.

Rodriquez has a very comfortable stance towards his sexuality and this reflects the widespread acceptance of same-sex relationships in the country.
