Flaming Creatures present ‘Stefan Fae: Cabaret Mattachine’ an evening of effervescent musical stylings and plucky, surprisingly profound, postcards from the edge.
The year is 2014 and radical faerie, Stefan Fae, wants to know where we’ve come from and where we are going. Poised, perhaps, on the brink of something shiny and new, he is searching for community.
‘Stefan Fae: Cabaret Mattachine’ is the brainchild of theatre-maker Stephen Quinn, founding member of Flaming Creatures; a Dublin-based theatre and performance collective, committed to producing work that takes a slant-ways look at the world and re-formulates it anew.
Speaking about his upcoming Tiger Dublin Fringe performance Stephen explained that “Stefan Fae is a Radical Faerie, that is to say, a queer spirit blessed with the power to defy expectation.” The show is a site specific performance and will take place in Molloy and Dowling Dispensing Opticians on Kildare Street – a venue unique in its surroundings that will add an extra measure of offbeat charm to the proceedings.
Expect cheeky polemics, powder-blue ukulele magic and a sprinkling of good, old-fashioned disco insurgency. Clap your hands if you believe in faeries!
‘Stefan Fae: Cabaret Mattachine’ previews Monday & Tuesday 15th and 16th September and runs until Saturday 20th. Tickets are priced at €13/11 concession & preview and are available from www.fringefest.com
