Singer T Pain has claimed that some rappers have refused to work with Frank Ocean because of his sexual orientation.
Speaking in an interview with Vlad TV, the singer said that despite becoming more “gay friendly” in recent years, homosexuality is still a taboo in the rap community.
“I think the radio is getting more gay-friendly,” he said. “I don’t think urban music is getting more gay-friendly because if that was the case, Frank Ocean would be on a lot more songs,” said the Grammy-winning singer and producer.
“I know n***as that will not do a song with Frank Ocean just because he gay, but they need him on the f**king song and that’s so terrible to me, man… What I do ain’t going to affect nothing that you got going on.”
The artist made headlines last year when he responded to homophobic insults directed at his assistant on Twitter, writing, “Attention all homophobic idiots: if you’re not attractive to straight women, you’re probably not attractive to gay men. You can unclench now.”
